Completed Swoon

It's finally finished.  I really love how this quilt turned out.

I quilted it in a continuous swirl pattern with white cotton thread on front and back.  The back is a sheet from Ikea and the batting is Hobbs 80/20.

I just love looking at it!

Mission Accomplished!

My goal was one a day for nine days.
Here they are, the completed "Swoon" blocks.  I love how the different colors make each block unique.
As I finished each block it became my new favorite.  To be honest I don't think I could choose which one I like best.  I love them all.

I had to be very particular in pressing each part of the block as it was finished.  As you can see, each square was pressed the opposite way so the seams would notch together.
There were many places where corners of squares and triangles needed to meet just right.  I got most of them to look pretty nice.

The challenge with the flying geese blocks was to make sure that I didn't cut off any of the points by sewing my seams too wide.

So, now I add the white sashing and it should end up being 80 x 80.  I might make it a little larger by widening the sashing.
I can't wait to put this on our bed.

Swoon!

I first saw the "Swoon" pattern by Camille Roskelley last May on her blog. (Simplify)  It was love at first sight.
I bought  a" Ruby" collection fat quarter pack last October just for this project.  Yesterday I finally got started.  I set a goal to make one of these blocks each day (except Sunday) until all 9 are finished.

This blue and gray one was my first block made yesterday.  These are a lot bigger than one would think.  They measure 24 1/2 inches right now.

Here they are together, tomorrow it is a gray and red block.  These are all made up of half square triangles and flying geese blocks and even though they take awhile I think the end result is worth it.  They are beautiful.
