Poetry Scrap Quilt!

My husband's niece is expecting a baby girl at the end of May and I knew that I wanted to make her a quilt.  I decided to use scraps from the Scottish Star quilt that I made for Banner a couple of years ago.

I used fabrics from April Cornell's Poetry collection from Moda.

I cut the fabric into 56 five inch squares

and sewed them together into strips then sewed the strips together.

I had some pieces left over from the mitered borders on Banner's quilt so I used them on each of the corners of this quilt.(lower left square)

I quilted this in a swirly pattern with yellow thread on the front.

The quilt measures 32 X 37 and has a polyester batting in case of frequent washing.

Spring Tablerunner!

I had some extra fabric from Banner's Scottish Star quilt so I thought I would
make a tablerunner for my mother-in-law.  This is all from April Cornell's Poetry Collection by Moda.

This looks very much like "spring" to me.  My mom-in-law loves floral prints so hopefully she will enjoy this.  I just need to quilt it and bind it and it's ready to be wrapped.

Banner's Quilt!

I finally finished Banner's quilt.  It is made from Moda's Poetry Collection by April Cornell.  The pattern is called a Scottish Star.  I got the idea from a quilt magazine that I have had for several years.  It took me a while to get the fabric because I had to order it from several different online stores.
I love this little quilt top.  The pink, orange and brown look so good together.  I'm going to try quilting it along the seam lines with a new template ruler that I purchased at the Cotton Shop a couple of weeks ago.
