Quick Baby Quilt!

Miranda and I have been invited to a baby shower this weekend so I needed a quick quilt.  Luckily I had some charm packs of Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts.

I used 72 squares so the quilt measures 36x40.  I pieced together a binding and back with some leftover larger pieces from Whitney's birthday quilt and the X Marks the spot quilt.
It turned out very cute and will be perfect for a sweet baby girl.

On Its Way to Whitney

Whitney will celebrate a birthday next week and so this quilt is for her.

I used 2 Jelly Rolls of Strawberry Fields from Fig Tree Quilts by Joanna Figueroa and Bella Moda White.

 I used this pattern.

The colors in this fabric collection are beautiful.

I tried a new quilting pattern and I think it turned out very well.

The binding is made up of different prints that I had left over.

The back is the beautiful yellow print from the collection.

The quilt measures 88 x 96 and has a Hobbs 80/20 batting.
Happy Birthday Whitney and sweet dreams as you lay under this cute quilt.

What a Relief!!

 Finally it's finished.

As you can see, I quilted a beadboard border which meant a lot of ruler work.
The cameos are quilted in circle feathers and the sashing is a small stipple.

I like the look of the circle feathers from the back.

This is one of my favorite cameos,  probably because of the red print.

I took this picture before it was bound, when I first unloaded it.  I used double batting in this quilt to give a higher loft to the border.  The fabric is Joanna Figueroa's "Mill House Inn".

Strawberry Fields for Me!

I quilted the X Marks the Spot quilt this past week and then finished the binding this morning.  I loved the "Strawberry Fields" fabric collection as soon as I saw it and knew I would make a quilt for myself from it.  Any fabric from Joanna Figueroa is guaranteed to catch my eye.  The back is a green and pink floral print from the collection and the binding is the blue dot.  I quilted the center section of this quilt in an all over flower pattern and the outside border in a meandering ribbon.  This is a queen size quilt and the batting is Hobbs 80/20.

X Marks the Spot!

Monday evening I started the first block for this quilt.  I didn't have a pattern so I just improvised after reading a couple of tutorials for similar looking quilts.  I used 30 layer cake squares and 30 charm pack squares for the blocks.

The fabric is "Strawberry Fields" by Fig Tree Quilts, designed by Joanna Figueroa.  The setting and corner triangles are "Fig Tree" cream.

I cut each layer cake square into 4 five inch squares and then added the matching charm pack square for each X.

The inner border finished at 3 inches and the outer border will finish at 6 inches.
The quilt measures 83 x 95.  This is a perfect summer quilt, in fact it looks perfect for a picnic because of the gingham but alas that will never happen, we will not be eating on this quilt.

This Week's Project!

I've had the pattern and fabric for this project for a while,  it's been sitting in one of my fabric closets.  The pattern is called Cameos and the fabric is Mill House Inn, both are by Fig Tree and Co.  The green inner round is actually left over from the Fresh Cottons fabric I had for the Saltwater Taffy quilt.(also designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree and Co.)  figtreequilts.com
The pattern is for a lap size quilt but I wanted to make this one a queen size for our bed so I bought extra fabric because I need 42 cameos instead of 20.

I started out with rectangles and then added a square to each corner then trimmed.

I then pressed each corner out flat

and added the top and bottom, then the sides and

 trimmed the corners again.

Now it's time to open the Honeybun (I used 2)
and add another round.

Here is one of the finished cameos,  isn't it pretty?

I have finished 20 of these and have 22 more finished except for the 3rd round.  I had no idea these would be so time consuming, though I know once this quilt is finished it will be well worth the time and effort.

This is only part of what I have trimmed off of the corners.
