It Took Awhile!

The quilting is finally finished on the Nicey Jane quilt that my daughter Miranda made for her husband.  She has taken the quilt home to finish the binding. 

These are such fun fabrics and I love the simple pattern of rectangles framed by cream colored sashing.

I quilted it in a three loop meandering pattern.

The quilt measures 88x102 before washing and will probably shrink a couple of inches when it is washed and dried.

Quilts Galore!

I decided to do a cobblestone pattern on the charcoal and pink quilt. When Miranda picked up the fabric at JoAnn's in St. George I looked at the color and vaguely remembered having thread to match.  Not so.  When we got home the closest we could find was this "Eggplant" color from Connecting Threads.   I think it looks great but the problem was that I had just one spool.  I wound three bobbins and then threaded the quilting machine.  One bobbin didn't even get me through the first row. I had to un- thread the machine three times to wind more bobbins. I ended up using ten bobbins on this quilt because of the close pattern.

Miranda was home this week and wanted to do some quilting on the long arm also. I looked away for five minutes and before I knew it she had "chalked up" her quilt.

I really hope this washes out.

She finished quilting it without the pink lines  and it looks very cute.  Pictures will be coming soon.

She also made this quilt with Nicey Jane scraps.  I will be quilting it tomorrow.

Nicey Jane Quilt Top

On Saturday I finished putting the borders on this quilt of Miranda's.  This is the first queen size quilt top that she has completed.

I tried to give you a good idea of the whole quilt but the wind kept blowing.

She used the blue and green prints from the Nicey Jane collection by Heather Bailey. She said she made this quilt for her husband because it is so "boyish". Guess I raised my daughters right if they think Nicey Jane fabric is "boyish". The quilt top pattern is from the 2010 Spring Quilts and More magazine.  The pattern in the magazine is for a twin and because she wanted a queen she added extra rows and an extra border.  The freshness of these prints is what makes this such a nice quilt.  I'm still trying to decide how I will quilt this for her.
