Dream On!

 My latest finish is a charm pack quilt made completely of the Dream On collection by Urban Chiks.  Sorry the pictures are a little washed out,  the winter sun is very bright this morning.

 

 These fabrics are reproductions of vintage sheets and very much remind me of the sheets I slept on in the sixties and seveties.

 

 Lucy needed to get in on this photo shoot.

 

 The quilt is made up of 10 charm packs that I collected over several months so it took me several days to sew 420 5 inch squares into strips and then all together.

 

The back is white with orange flowers and green ribbons and the binding is the yellow stripe.  It measures 90 x 94.5 and is on a bed already.

12 Days of Christmas!

 Last year Moda produced this cute holiday collection designed by Kate Spain.  It is called 12 Days of Christmas and I loved it as soon as I saw it.

 

 I decided to make a bunch of 1/2 square triangles and then turn them into Dutch Pinwheel blocks.

 

I have wanted a Christmas quilt for our bed for a while so my plan is to make 16 of these blocks (they measure 17.5) and then add two borders so that it will be a square queen size quilt.  I will post pictures later when the project is finished.

Birthday Quilts!

 I made this Union Jack quilt for my sister Sara in honor of her birthday which was yesterday.  I've had it finished for a while but had to wait to show it. 

 

 Sara served a mission for our church in England when she was younger and has always had a great love for that country and people.

 

 I used whatever red and blue fabrics I could find in my stash, most of them are from the Connecting Threads Canning Day collection but I also used a red from the Sherbet Pips collection.  The pattern is called Victory Garden by Busy Bee Quilt Designs.  It measures 56 x 62, a perfect lap size.

 

 Yesterday was also my sister-in-law Stacy's birthday so I made her this sweet lap quilt.

 

 I used FigTree Quilts Butterscotch and Roses collection, a charm pack and honey bun plus fig tree cream for the sashing.  The pattern is called Square One by Camille Roskelley found in her Simplify book.  It measures 56 x 65 and both quilts have a 80/20 cotton poly batting.
 

I loved making these quilts.  They both turned out just the way I wanted them to.

Quick Baby Quilt!

 Miranda and I have been invited to a baby shower this weekend so I needed a quick quilt.  Luckily I had some charm packs of Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts. 

 

I used 72 squares so the quilt measures 36x40.  I pieced together a binding and back with some leftover larger pieces from Whitney's birthday quilt and the X Marks the spot quilt.

It turned out very cute and will be perfect for a sweet baby girl.

Make Life Tumbler

 I finally made a quilt fit for a baby boy.

 This cute "tumbler" quilt was made with 121 "Make Life" charm pack squares.

It measures 38x52



Baby Lattice Quilt

 This quilt pattern is called "Baby Lattice Quilt" by Amy Smart, it is free over at the Moda Bake Shop.

 I used 50 charm pack squares of Chloe's Closet "Lil' Rascals".

This little duck and frog square is my favorite.

The quilt top measures 36 x 48 and now goes into my "to be quilted" pile.

Disappearing Nine Patch!

 I started with six or seven Verna Charm Packs.  I arranged the 5 inch squares into 9 patches and sewed them together row by row.  I ended up with 30 of these blocks.

 I pressed the seams of the outside rows out and the middle row in so the seams would notch together.

 The nine patch is a 14 inch block so I cut it in half at 7 inches.

 I turned it and cut again at 7 inches.  This is the disappearing nine patch block. 

 Because I started out with 30 nine patch blocks, I now have 120 seven inch blocks.

I plan for this quilt to be 10 blocks across and 12 blocks down.  It should end up a twin size.

To lay out your quilt you put 4 of the patches together like this.  Arrange them so no seams are meeting.  It should look something like this.  I'll post more pictures when I have it all put together.

 The completed Lily and Will charm pack quilt.

 I had to patch the back but I think it looks cute that way.

 I quilted it in a smaller stipple and bound it in the light brown dot.

This quilt measures 38 X 42 and has a 80/20 batting.  It has been washed and dried on a delicate cycle.

It's in the shop.

Lily And Will!

I started a Lily and Will charm pack quilt today.  I love this cute fabric collection by Bunny Hill Design for Moda.

I laid it out, running the same colors diagonally and then started sewing it into strips.

Most of the charm packs come with 42 5 inch squares.  This works out perfect for 6 rows, 7 blocks long.

Before sewing the strips together, I pressed the seams opposite from each other.

Then I placed the pins at a diagonal at each seam.  This will hold both top and bottom fabrics in place so the corners all match up.

Tomorrow I will add borders and it will be ready to quilt. 

A Gift to Myself!

I bought this book back in July, I guess you could say it was a birthday gift to myself.  Each pattern has directions for a large quilt using layer cake squares and a small quilt using charm pack squares.  I'm so excited to get started.

Oh Cherry,Oh!

Oh, Cherry, Oh charm pack quilt measures 30x37 after washing.  The binding is the blue ric rac print and the backing is the yellow flower print.  The batting is 80/20 cotton-poly blend.  I love this quilt. If only I had some little grand-babies to give it to. ;)

I'm going to send it up, and maybe a few other quilts, to my adorable nephew Noah, and his wife Becky, to be sold at their booth in Provo. They sell their Works of Art at the Provo Farmer's Market every Saturday. If you are in Northern Utah on a weekend, check it out!
