Whitney was home from Salt Lake this weekend and decided she wanted to make a quilt top. While searching through her cedar chest she came across these sweet Darlene Zimmerman pastels. We chose an easy block pattern that goes together really fast. This quilt top ended up at 52 x 58. I will quilt it as soon as I can and then it's back to her to enjoy.

"Play"ing with Just Dreamy!

I pieced this quilt with some of my stash of Riley Blake's Just Dreamy fabric.  I got the idea of the letters off of a quilt on Moda's bake shop.  The ric rac and PLAY give it just a little extra cuteness.  I think I will quilt this and try to sell it in my Etsy shop.

Strip Quilt!

Yes, I still have some Paisley Party fabric.

This is my latest effort to reduce my stash.

This cute and bright quilt top measures 40x48, a perfect crib size.

String Quilt!

Morgan(neice) sent me this picture of a string block quilt top that she finished last week.  She used 1 jelly roll of Moda's Make Life by Sweetwater. Thanks for the picture Morgan.  I love it.

What I Did Today!

I finally finished two more string blocks so I could complete this throw pillow for Tennyson's bed.

I deciced to make a couple of pillowcases with the extra "Paisley Party fabric.
One done with orange and

One done with yellow.

I used the excellent tutorial from "Film in the Fridge".

I think the little strip of trim gives them the perfect finish.

Loyalty Loot!

I ordered some fabric from Sew Sweet Quilt Shop for a project that I am working on.  Imagine my surprise when I opened the package and this little treasure was on top. It had a tag on it that read "loyalty loot".   I've loved this fabric since I first saw it but never got around to buying any.  Thank you Sew Sweet for the delightful gift.

Promised Picture!

This baby quilt was made by my daughter Whitney, and sister Sara a few years ago.  I love the cute little flowers quilted in each white block.  My flowers aren't quite that neat and uniform yet but I'm working on it.  I promised Sara I would post a picture of this quilt, so here it is.

Thoroughly Modern Wonky Squares!

This is my latest quilt top.  I tried an offset square pattern for the first time.  Next time I piece one of these I think I will make the blocks smaller.  I like the look of the blue and white together though I would like more white between the blocks.  The quilt is a large queen size, about 95 X 95.  The weather has been nice today so I was able to have Banner hold the quilt out on the deck instead of inside by the fireplace.  I think I will give this quilt to my husband Jim, he is tired of girly floral prints on our bed.

Quilting for Teenagers!

My niece Kelsie and her friend Erica each pieced a quilt for their Knowledge Value Project.  I offered to do the quilting for them.  This one is Kelsie's.

I used a variegated thread on the back because it matched most of the colors on the front.

This one is Erica's.  I quilted it with black thread on the front and green on the back
I used a retro squares pattern on both of the quilts for the quilt design.

The quilts are now ready to head back to Salt Lake where the girls will put on the binding.  I hope this was a good experience and that these quilts will be just the first of many for both girls.

More Fabric!

I am very fond of the new Verna fabric collection.  These fat quarters are destined to become part of a sweet quilt.  I have already chosen a pattern by Crazy Old Ladies.  I have a few projects ahead of this, but I can't wait to get started.

Quilt Crosstitch

Years ago, my sister Shelley gave this crosstitch to me for Christmas.
I can't imagine the hours that went into making it.

I wasn't doing any quilting at that time but I loved the colors and patchwork patterns of all the stitchs.  I am a quilter now and this gift has become even more special to me as the years go by.

String Blocks

I'm so proud of my first string blocks.  I have sewn the two of them together and they will be one half of a throw pillow for Tennyson's bed.  It really was quite simple because I used the tutorial from Film in the Fridge.  I love that there are so many bloggers that do free tutorials.  Thanks.
